Influence of Combined Motion of Pitch and Surge with Phase Difference on Aerodynamic Performance of Floating Offshore Wind Turbine

Platform motions induced by waves pose a challenge to accurately predict the aerodynamic performance of floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs). In view this, power and wake structure FOWTs under platform pitch, surge, their combined were investigated in this paper, using computational fluid dynamics software, STAR-CCM+, with overset meshing rigid body motion techniques. First, simulation cases single same-phase different amplitudes frequencies performed. Afterward, approach calculating phase difference between pitch surge was proposed investigate influence on performance. Results show that increment amplitude frequency augments mean output aggravates fluctuation motions. The intensity variation is weakened at 0.1 Hz compared motion, while enhanced 0.2 Hz, showing law addition, paper established table based real sea states Shidao China, providing certain reference for controller design area.
